The history of the federation
Hazara people living in Germany have long participated in education, employment, culture, integration and civic life. Formal and informal associations emerged in many cities to preserve cultural identity, support newcomers and build bridges to wider society.
Their work achieved important results. At the same time, it became clear that scattered initiatives could not realise their full potential without shared coordination. Association leaders and independent experts therefore began a structured dialogue about a common federation.
The path to establishment
5 October 2024 β Berlin
At the Symposium for Hazara Solidarity in Germany, hosted by Verein Ettehad, participants agreed on the need for a federation and formed a volunteer group to draft statutes.
21 June 2025 β Erfurt
Hosted by Verein Gharjistan and MOVE e.V., the draft was reviewed in working groups. Recommendations were collected and an interim board was asked to revise it.
13 December 2025 β DΓΌsseldorf
With the formal participation of 16 associations and support from additional institutions, DHD was officially founded. The statutes were adopted and the Executive and Supervisory Boards elected.
4 April 2026 β Munich
The Hazara Cultural Center Munich hosted the public opening ceremony. Member organisations presented their work and shared research on Hazara life in Germany was launched.
A common roof with preserved independence
DHD pools shared capacities and creates space for coordinated initiatives. Member organisations remain independent and contribute their local networks, experience and expertise.
