DHD is organised democratically, transparently and with clear responsibilities. The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body; the Board, Supervisory Board, Advisory Board and committees have distinct mandates.

General Assembly

The highest decision-making body; it sets strategy, elects the governing bodies and approves annual plans and reports.

Executive Board

Plans and implements programmes, develops projects and maintains institutional relations. Its term is three years.

Supervisory Board

Five members supervise the Board, handle complaints and report to the General Assembly.

Advisory Board

Five to fifteen independent experts advise on strategy, policy and new ideas.
